K03 rebuild/service high miles
« on: December 09, 2019, 02:32:32 pm »
Ive got an original OEM K03 on a bwa 180k and ive got some free time coming up soon. Majority of easy maintenance is done and il be looking at replacing the intake camshaft due to lobe wear, and de-coke. With regards to the turbo, theres no smoke and it boosts just fine. The engine eats oil tho.. I want to run a stage one very soon after the intake cam has been done.. Is there anything i can do to maintain a k03 set-up, new bearings? I dont know much about turbos and maintenance tbh. How much does it cost on average to get a re-con done and what do they do? How long do K03s generally last for?

If oil consumption is high I would get a compression test done first

Yeh ok cheers, I've been meaning to do a comp test, il give it a go this weekend. Dont know what values il get but long as its consistent I suppose. From research on bwa engines I'm looking at around 10.5-11 bar at 30deg. All depends on mileage I suppose. Il post what I get.
