Which Battery for the GTI
« on: January 13, 2020, 08:31:20 am »
Morning all
Not using the GTI that often as commuting via train daily()
However I’ve noticed recently that when turning over the car to start it it’s doesn’t seem to be spinning up quickly, albeit it starts each time. I’m wondering if the battery is on its way out? If the case (not sure how to check this) what’s the recommended battery for the Car?

Cheers
Louie

I just replaced mine with a Varta E44 Heavy Duty Silver 096 which I believe is the same as the Bosch one linked above (just branded differently). I bought it off eBay from Tanya Batteries at cost of £81 (5 year warranty also). It has capacity of 77 Ah and 780 A CCA. Took me about 5 mins to swap over although i wouldn’t recommend doing it in the rain which is what I ended up doing!!!

The trouble with batteries is some retailers like to inflate their prices during winter - that Euro's price is just nuts even with whatever discount they are running this minute, hour, day or week.

If you have access, Costco do really good prices on Bosch batteries all year round.

Fakie1977's suggestion of Varta is good if you can wait - they were an OEM supplier to VW - good batteries

3 months ago I needed a battery fast, I went for -
