GTI running low temp?
« on: February 24, 2020, 11:44:03 pm »
Hi guys

Got a mk5 gti (57 plate) dsg recently.

I’ve noticed it is running low on oil temp than normal, after a 4 hour drive it didn’t go past 80+, and normally stays around the 70 mark. Is this a serious issue and if so what do I do?

Water temp? Probably needs a new thermostat, worthwhile doing the secondary at the same time. If it has trouble getting to 90 then it's likely the secondary, if it drops once you are travelling at 70mph for example and sits around 70 it's the main one. I think DSGs have a 3rd one but not sure as I have a manual :D

Definitely sounds like the main thermostat needs to be replaced, I'd recommend getting a genuine one.
