Seatbelt light

(1/3) > >>

andyp:
My seatbelt light has stopped working on the drivers side yet works chime etc on the passenger.     Would this also cause the airbag light to appear or is that something else entirely?

pudding:
Had the same problem with my passenger side when I bought the car.  I just disabled the warning with VCDS.  Can't remember the exact details as it was nearly 6 years ago, but I think the cause is a bad switch in the seat belt latch.  I don't think the MK5 uses pressure sensors in the seat base like newer cars.

Kcmillar:
If you look under the seat there will be a small yellow plug which is for the airbag and a small black plug with 2 wires in for the seat belt warning system. If you unplug the seat and bridge out the 2 wires left on the car side then the light should come on and you know you have a open circuit on the seat or buckle it's the easiest way to check.

I’m going to get it scanned finally then at least I then know.   I’ve put it off for too long now! 🤦🏼‍♂️😂

Ricky123:
Check the plug under the black plastic cover where the seat rail is.. think the smaller one (maybe 2 connectors on it) is the one for the seatbelt chime/sensor. Had them get disconnected by previous owners or just need a quick jiggle due to a bad connection
