Urgent Help: Oil filter housing problem!
« on: February 09, 2020, 02:49:22 pm »
Hi guys,

I really need some urgent help please. I am changing the oil and filter on the golf GTi mk5 and I have taken the housing off the car and taken the old filter out. The tube that the filter slides into I took this out of the housing so that I could reseat the housing nipple and a spring a little black thing came from somewhere and I have no idea how it all fits back together!

For some reason the black tube won't push into the housing because the little prongs are in the way! It won't go in and click! When I take the nipple out and try the tube it will click Into place. I just don't get it. Is it broken?

Any help would be really appreciated!

I bought that whole assembly that sits inside the filter from vw. The part was a tenner so maybe buy a new one.

Mine was about a tenner. Are you sure they are not quoting for the oil filter assembly?

That is for the housing and the long part in the middle. They said it doesn't come separate so I have to buy the whole thing. I have had to go to parkers who have quoted me £26 for an aftermarket one but it isn't going to be here until tomorrow now.

Are the aftermarket ones any good? Will they do the same job?
