HPFP Upgrade.
« on: March 19, 2020, 03:48:49 pm »
Hi, recently got Audi Rs4 HPFP for my Ed30 would this pump support stage 2+ and I can see I would have to change couple bits over from the original pump  (photos attached) has anyone ever done this upgrade before?

Probably enough volume as it has to support 8 cylinders, but as above, far easier to just stick some VIS internals in.

Do you have any data or facts that verify the RS4's piston length and stroke match that of ours? Then, I would assume you need the Low Pressure Sensor swapped. And there's the fitment onto the timing chain cover.

I agree, I would also opt for an internal upgrade for the original. So long as its pressure regulator on top is in good condition, it comes with a new piston collar nut, and the piston end cap is not worn.

I fitted the pump after swapping couple of the bits from the original one. Started the car and weird noise coming from the pump/injectors like a metal sound tapping after a while it went away as I tought maybe it just needed to be bleed and it done it itself. As soon as I got into the car and wanted to go for a test drive it started that noise again. Took the pump off and stuck the original one back in car running smooth again. I think the rs4 has two pumps to make the pressure balanced between the V as one of the pumps wasn't enough for the GTI.
I'm currently looking to get the vis internals and go stage 2+

Honestly, mate.  Go for the VIS.  Uses stock spring so no excess tappet wear and you get enough flow for a bucket load of horsepower......and it's the cheapest upgrade out there  :happy2:

I would not have even mounted it without knowing piston stroke, spring rate, etc..
Good for removing and going with the upgrade. Just know when reusing the collar nut that contains the two seals from a used hpfp...you risk early leaking. Probably not going to happen right away...but just know if you ever see low rail pressure codes, then you'll need to see if you detect fuel in the oil. Along with the usual checks of course.

I’ve just got my GTI and found out it’s got a stage 2 map on already standard intercooler, standard intake and cats still in any fitted ally end cap genuine intercooler over size Ram air intake and have a decat was wondering would the Audi TTS HPFP work on stage 2 as they are good for stage1/2ish on the TTS has any one fitted one not looking for massive amounts of power as it’s going to be a fast road track car so can’t see fitting a branded HPFP being any benefit until fitting ko4 ??

TTS/S3 has different mapping and cams, it's not just about the pump itself, which is the same as the GTI btw.  Just stick the VIS internals in.  Taking a pump from a completley different engine (i.e RS4) will just cause headaches further down the line.
