RNS-510 Aerial Connections

(1/2) > >>

rdfcpete:
Guys,

Question if I may, after the groans and pains I've had yesterday and today (see thread http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,9505.msg187362.html#msg187362)

Why the fudge  :fighting: don't the two speaker/aerial (?) clips sit next to each other connected with the plastic casing on them, as designed?

Part of the problem I was having was when connecting and then testing, with the RNS turned on, the MDI source (sound from my USB stick) was either through just the right hand speakers and wouldn't allow me to adjust the volume (only off or at a set volume) or, the radio wouldn't work whatsoever and I had no FM or AM. There was distinct interference and distortion in both cases.

To resolve it, I had to remove the casing off of the white connector and in the end tape it into place with some autoC tape.

Why do VW supply both connector casings yet they both quite blatantly both don't fit on the connections given together?
There's simply not the surface area between the two metal connections for them to sit flat alongside each other.

Hopefully I've missed something and all will become clear....!

Thanks.

i assume your fitting this aftermarket yourself ?, ps there is a connector available to make the normal aerials fit the RNS, when i did mine i just removed both of the plastic fakra connector ends

rdfcpete:
Yeah RNS was retrofitted by myself previously 182

This was the MDI retrofit I did this weekend and thus took the connectors off obviously.
If there's a bit of kit I haven't got, then that explains it  :happy2: Sound fella, thanks.

i dont have the adaptor but its something like this

rdfcpete:
Thanks  Looks like what I need.
I knew VW would have an answer to my fury
