Fish tank need a quite air pump
« on: August 21, 2014, 07:05:03 am »
Hi All

the wife decided my daughter needs 4 gold fish and bought a very small tank with all the stuff in its a beginner kit

now when the house is in full swing you can not hear it but when I am sitting at my pc working all I can hear is the bump buzzing away I have put it on a foam pad which did not really do anything

so I think we need a silent air pump

can someone recommend me one as I am going to turn it off soon and that will not be good for the fish

cheers dan..

Ehiem air pump is what I went for. They do a whisper design so ultra quiet.

Though your never going to get totally silent.

Someone else searching for El Dorado. I've never managed to find a quiet air pump, although the reciprocating ones will always buzz while the screw type are generally quieter. The problem there is the screw type are generally much larger and used for fish house applications rather than just a small goldfish tank.

You could try a Tetratec APS pump as they're not too bad really. I have one in my front room for the tropical tank, and it's quieter than many I've tried. Having said that, I can't hear it over the background noise of the skimmers & circulating pumps on the marine tanks really.
Sarcasm for free. Anything after that can only be considered as a bonus.

Just because you think you know something, doesn't make you an expert if you've just read it on the internet, y'know.

I think you took the tank already, but you can also buy some live rocks to clean it more rare.
