Adding bluetooth for music/handsfree to an RCD300
« on: June 28, 2020, 04:46:05 pm »
Hi,

I have an RCD300, for which I have read some threads on the alternative head unit options, but my other half would rather keep the original stereo, and certainly wants the CD player kept , so instead I am looking at other unobtrusive options.

I have read somewhere on here that the Dension Gateway Lite BT (approx £105) would be a good option, but the only people I can find who supply and fit (approx £204) have very mixed reviews (car communications.co.uk).

1) Has anyone got one of these, and are you pleased with it?
2) Can anyone recommend a mobile fitter in the SE who could fit one?
3) Are there any other / better options?

Thanks in advance,
Si.

PS. I cannot search for answers on this, as search doesn't seem to work for me, do I have to make a certain number of posts for that to be enabled??

I put one of these in the boot, works gear for calls and music

Thanks...I had something like this years ago...so I guess you plug it into the boot cigarette lighter slot, connect the phone to it by bluetooth, and then set a frequency for the radio to pick up?

No wires required at all?
Is the sound quality acceptable?
With the one I had I would find that there was interference between the radio and the transmitter, or the frequency would need changing.

exactly that, pop it in connect your phones bluetooth, i the mine to a Fm that noone near me uses and away you go. quality isn't fantastic for calls but music is ace, i normally use spotify or or the radio X app. dont get me wrong, its not as good as a new headunit, but you can get them foe like £5 so could be a good temp solution

nope connect to the transmitter by AUX or bluetooth, it then transmits to an FM frequency, then tune your stereo ti it.

I have ordered one thanks, will let you know how I get on.

Would be amusing if I have spent untold hours looking into this for it to be solved for £10

Mine has arrived, but I cannot get it to work  :sad1:

It says it will automatically be available when switched on, but my iPhone11 does not have it as an option in the Bluetooth discoverable area.
any ideas? Cheers

Update : It's working now, not sure why it didn't on my first try.
Sound seems passable, but not tried it out on the road yet.
Hoping to use it if I drive to France in a few weeks time, when I will be able to give a better review

Hi bud, I currently got one of these densions fitted to my 30. And no longer need it as I’ve upgraded my head unit.
Also an Auto Electrician, and could possibly fit it for you too just give me a message

I changed to a different BT transmitter as the first one was a bit fickle about connecting

I now have this which I find better as it is much easier to skip tracks : https://smile.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08D99F79L/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
