Coilovers?
« on: October 31, 2020, 07:54:22 pm »
Hi all..
My car has got lowering springs but I don't know what make or what drop they are.

Although its a comfy drive... the drivers side does sometimes make a scraping or rubbing sound (sounds like the tyre rubbing on the wing?)
when going over humps...   can anyone give me suggestions on some not so expensive but comfy enough coilivers..  I hate the fact that mine scrapes

What’s your budget?
A decent coil over kit will be at least £1000.

Depends what you are going to be doing with the Golf?

At £1k you are into much higher end suspension, personally I would say well past decent - but the investment would be worth it if your are keeping the car for a while our planning to go on track days.

If you are just looking for good suspension for daily use I would recommend AP coilovers that I run on my Gti.
Current price is £480 - they are decent with a firmer OEM feel. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/371633207372
They are a budget range of the KW family of suspension, spring rates will be the same, but with budget brand you get fixed valving and the materials used are not as good as top of the range products.

I used the vwr kit on mine, subtle drop and no harsher than stock.
probably not suited to track use but I'm happy with how it feels on the road.

Thanks for the reply guys..

sorry for not being too clear in my initial post.  yes its for my mk5 eddy and no, i dont do track days or anything like that, just daily road use.
i do think 1k is a bit out of my budget Lol..    so i would be looking somewhere at spending in the region of £300..   can i get something decent for this price?

i appreciate the replies guys..  thanks

For that budget it'll be more towards an entry level / budget kit.

Saw a raceline kit for about £700 but sure they aren't that highly rated by gti drivers. For £300 tje choice will be limited but good luck in your search :happy2:

Most the budget kits are much of a muchness and a lot will actually come out the same factory. The Stance is basically the JOM kit powder coated a different colour. If possible I'd try and stick to AP, V-Maxx or Vogtland and above.
