APR pendulum mount - Price check.
« on: October 15, 2020, 09:31:34 pm »
Bought this APR pendulum mount beginning of 2019, installed it and it was great.

But after a while something started to rattle, only way to solve it was take off the pendulum mount.

I'm sure there's nothing wrong with the mount, and if i had the patience and time i could get it to work properly.

But for the last year and a half it has sat in my shed. The bolts included are reusable as stated by the website. http://www.goapr.co.uk/products/pendulum_mount.html

So now i'm thinking of selling it.

It's currently £282.65 new i think i paid about £260.

I'm not looking for anywhere near that, so before i list it i was wondering how much people would be willing to pay.

Hopefully no silly offers but i'm open to a fair bargain for whoever wants it.

Or if anyone knows what the rattle could be and how to fix it i'd probably give it another go!

EDIT: when i say list it i mean on the for sale page here, not ebay.

The rattle could be anything, but if removing the mount solved it, I'd call that a win personally!

I think a solid mount will only appeal to quite a limited audience, due to the increased NVH, but maybe try £200 and see where that goes.  You may have shot yourself in the foot admitting it's sat in the shed for ages and you took it off because it caused a problem though

Honesty is the best policy  :innocent:

Don't want anything near £200, and it could be good for some one with a track car maybe.

OK right, got it out the shed, now i have an urge to get this right, and i've had an epiphany!

Had a closer look at my picture of when it was fitted to my gti, and the photo on APR's website.

Where the red arrow is pointing on my picture, the subframe looks slightly different.

Then i thought, there's 2 types of dogbone inserts for different aged gti's, so what about the subframe itself??

So now i need to find out, is the subframe different between these models? could THIS be the reason that i get a knocking sound?

And what can i do to rectify it? shave off a bit off the mount? Getting ahead of myself here though

Ignore my last post, i may have had a few beers when i had that epiphany :drinking:

Sober me decided to email APR and low and behold they replied saying that the dogbone insert can cause fitment issues, so, i have asked for a suggestion to replace it and hopefully this will solve the problem.

Once they reply and i have swapped the insert and re-fitted the pendulum mount i will report back!
