Boot strut mount snapped and now boot won’t open. There is no locking/unlocking sound when opening/closing car.

The wheel arches are nearly falling apart with rust.

Will need timing belt replaced this year.

Wheel bearings always seem to wear very quickly. I hardly drove the car in 2020 and I can hear the rear ones.

Just other small repair costs that keep mounting up. Air leaks etc which affected boost.

Not sure of costs to fix all these things and not sure when to bite bullet on buying a new used car...and what to buy. Really don’t like the whole emissions scandal. Although was Audi part of that too?

Small/exaggerated stuff and obviously non genuine wheel bearings.

Going from a GTI to a boring 1.4 Audi A3 is like going from a super tasty Byron Burger B-Rex to a bland McDonalds Big Mac.  Enjoy.

So, got boot strut and broken boot latch fixed £60. Better than paying out over £200 a month for new/second hand car.

Now I want to update my head unit! :-)

Looks great. Easy to install? I have read about battery drain. Just need to find someone local who knows his stuff to install (Belfast)

If you car is older that 2007 you will need to change to a newer can bus that starts with 07 like this one and get it coded: https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=7N0+907+530+gateway+&_sacat=0

Lots of info here: https://www.reddit.com/r/GolfGTI/comments/9a0j2i/can_we_get_a_rcd330_sticky/

It is a great unit and brings the car right up to 2021 with Waze on the main screen and handsfree texts and WhatsApp.
