Upgrade kit for Golf MK5 2008
lokker:
Hi everyone,
I had a look in this sub-forum and I found a guy that bought and mounted a speaker upgrade kit for his VW Golf MK5. I cannot find anything like that anymore.
I have done stereo and speaker upgrade long time ago but forgot what it's like to do it. I am happy with the standard stereo that came with the car, it's powerful and works well, I might change it in the future but I don't feel the necessity for now. I want to upgrade the speakers because they don't sound as clean when I reach higher volumes, the loudness is great and the quality isn't bad but it's just not clear enough for my taste. The car is from 2008 and I'm not sure it has had other speakers fitted but I doubt. I imagine these speakers aren't as good anymore.
I can't find any kit that I could buy and just fit in the car without having to upgrade the stereo. I want to keep the same wattage, I just want newer and better speakers as these are probably old.
Can anyone suggest a a kit that is easy to mount and of good quality to upgrade the standard speakers that come with the car?
Thanks a lot.

The kit you probably saw was Gladen 3 way. Ive been looking at this but will also add amp, new head unit and an active sub....at least thats what I'm currently thinking.

Mmm no, I was looking at this: https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=26892.0
I am thinking to upgrade only the speakers as I don't want to spend too much on it and I only want better sound quality, loudness is already good. I do like the idea of putting something better like you don't get me wrong but I don't think in my position is worth investing a lot of money into the car. That's why I'm not so keen changing stereo and so on.
I cannot find that kit though or any equivalent one. Yesterday I realized that the issue I think it's a lack of mid range frequencies with my current setup.
How about this one? Would it require an amp? https://audiovisualworld.co.uk/mb-quart-qm200-3-vw-golf-v-custom-speaker-upgrade-component-kit-3-way-8.html

I fitted the Galden in the summer. My advice - don't do it! Firstly they were not plug and play, as the supplied harness did not connect with what was already there. And more importantly I don't think they sound that good, especially given their price. Also, if you are getting an active sub, then you really don't need the 8inch woofer on the Galden, as the sub will be taking care of the low end.

Not wanting you to be disappointed, but I would imagine fitting new speakers won't make the difference you would imagine. The weak point is the standard headunit. If you buy those MB Quarts you'll not have enough power from the headunit to drive them well.
I have uprated speakers, an amp, active sub and new headunit. If I was upgrading again from stock id upgrade headunit first.
