RTech Stage 2+ mapping
Car's oil changed & engine flush complete by Diverse Rides. Car running sweet and tight, car is slowly feeling more at home with all of its recent upgrades. Engine has quietened down some what since the oil change from the running in oil.
While we were on route to RTech which is a good 3 hours drive we managed to stop off and catch a beautiful sunset
After refuelling the body  :signLOL: We set off for our final leg to get this GTI performing like it should.
We arrived at RTech nice and early and handed over the keys for the work to begin. Unfortunately during the health check which RTech perform before every mapping session they found that the water thermostat was partially open, which caused the car to run cold at 70 - 80C coolant temp. RTech advised they were unable to perform the remap until this issue was resolved.
RTech explained that despite all the cooling mods on the car the car should still sit @ 90C. They explained this could be due to the car being off the road for almost a year, it is a relatively easy fix and they could do this in the next few days. So i decided to leave the GTI with them for the week to complete the thermostat change & Stage 2 + map.
As a courtesy / compensation for having to leave the car with them, Rtech removed my injectors and completed a full injector clean & upgraded the filter baskets & graphite seals for me:
Here is the before injector results
You can see which Cylinders had the issues before the rebuild.
After injector clean, much more stable / consistent results
Then Nikki completed the Stage 2+ remap, here are the stats
Rolling road before map with the rebuild & added modifications the car made a healthy 335.5Bhp & 342Ft-lb, then Nikki went to work tweaking & tuning the GTI.
Final Stage 2+ tuning results :popcornsoda:
380.2Bhp & 434Ft-lb :jumping:
OMG amazing. RTech commented on the build / workmanship quality and was impressed with the attention of detail on the build. Rtech were paticualrly impressed with the Torque figures which shows the engine is strong and working well.
Picked the car back up and drove the 160miles back home with a big grin on my face  Car has been completely transformed. Not only does the car feel stupidly quick it feels smooth & refined. On the way home I managed 34mpg despite having a bit of fun, awesome.
When i got home i had a detailed look at the health check results, which RTech gave a print out for. There was a few things i wanted to address / tidy up in the engine bay.
First the oil filler neck looked ugly since the engine cover had been removed so i went to work removing this filler neck, here are the results
As you can see just finishes the engine bay off, in addition to this i also ordered & installed a new oil cap as the old one was allowing a bit of condensation into the rocker cover, this was the original 2008 cap so not done bad and the car is running a bit more boost now :signLOL:
So my next steps in my build journey is to complete the following upgrades which should i think make for an amazing driving machine once complete.
6Pot Brembo 18z front brakes with 350mm discs
R32 310mm rear brake conversion
Wavetrac Diff

Fairplay mate, probably one of the builds I am most jealous of! Judging by how serious some of these upgrades are I guess after your new brake setup, coilovers or something will be on your mind next?
Awesome updates!

Welcome Paul!
Lovey looking ED30 you have. Great write up so far.
Shame about the engine problems.
Looks like a great rebuild, with really good attention to detail. Found a good garage I'd say. Amazing numbers from R-Tech!
Wavetrack diff and brakes will transform the drive of the car.
Look forward to more updates.

Looks like a quality build mate I'm impressed... What caused the engine damage initially?

Judging by pictures. Looks like the runner flaps have failed. Cylinder 1 had a chunk in combustion chamber and destroyed everything.
