Traction Control Light On
« on: February 25, 2021, 07:35:55 am »
Guys parked up the Ed30 yesterday and  all was well, started it this morning and the traction light is on.
Any common causes i should be investigating to begin with?

Thanks
Max

Any dash lights on, as I had three on mine when I had a faulty rear sensor/magnetic ring.

Maybe plug into VCDS to get some codes.

Strange to just have the traction one on.

If there's an ABS fault you usually get the 3 as above!

ABS/Traction/TPMS.

Yes only yellow traction light on dash, very odd......It's like the traction button has been pressed to turn it off?
I will plug it in over the weekend hopefully and see whats stored in codes.

Thanks
Max

It will either be the brake light switch (behind the brake pedal) or the brake pressure sensor, which should be screwed into the ABS pump.

Pudding is the pressure sensor available separately from the ABS pump itself then?

I'll check both items tomorrow and feedback any findings..

Thanks again
Max

Hmmm, looks like the pressure sensor is actually built into the ABS pump

Back in the day when I worked at VW this fault under warranty was a case of checking MVB for brake light switch input then if that was ok , new ABS pump.

Nowadays can get them repaired by people like BBA reman. ECU testing etc.

As in above thread I have seen this fault so common in Ford/VW/BMW when working in the main dealers.

Guys thanks for the input, after further investigation and collecting some live data I have come to the conclusion the abs pump is knackered. I have a constant reading of 214 BAR from pressure sensor which doesn't change when brake pedal is pressed and it also seems like an insanely high pressure to have in a braking system!!!!!!
Also after some googling as GVK states this seems to be a common issue..... Time to get the toolbox out again

Cheers Max

A good excuse to upgrade to the MK6's XDS pump   I don't know how involved it is though!
