Want to install my single DIN head unit

(1/2) > >>

Nickyboy:
To replace the double DIN standard HU. What's the best fascia? The Autoleads ones for the Civic were pants. Miscoloured and bad fitment.

Also will I need a special ISO harness or any cheap one will do?

Is it easy to swap the head units over? I have the basic one and no MFSW.

Also what kind of plug is on the aerial lead, DIN or ISO?

Thanks alot guys  :happy2:

SteveP:
VW do a single din fascia  :happy2:

The aerial lead is a fakra connector (you need an amplified aerial adapter) and you can get away with a cheap Quadlock to ISO convertor but you will need to add a ignition switched 12v to the loom and you won't get a dimming feed.

To make it plug and play you need a CANBUS enabled adapter like this - http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/8115.html

cameluk:
VW do an official double din to single din adaptor, fits both MKVs and MKVIs

1K0857058A 1QB  STOWAGE COMPARTMENT £22
1K0858169 9B9     INSERT FOR COMPARTMENT £4
N90698606            BOLT £0.12

Nickyboy:
Any chance of a link for the aerial adapter? I'm not clued up here at all  :signLOL:

Would this be it http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/8127.html

Just that and the £50 adapter and that's the wiring sorted?

Is there a how-to on here for changing the stereo?

Thanks again

SteveP:
Yes that's the type of aerial adapter.

For removing the OEM headunit have a look at step 2 on my guide for the RVC - http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,10027.0.html
