Strange fuel smell
« on: June 12, 2021, 10:21:43 am »
I'm getting a strange fuel like smell coming through to cab area, it's not a pure petrol like smell but more like aviation fuel type smell (if you know the smell) "say smell one more time" I dare you. Anyway if anyone has any pointers I'd be most grateful.

Does it smell when your AC is turned on when it's off. When was last time you changed the cabin filter?

Exhaust blowing at turbo-downpipe?

Possibly a leak in the PCV system? I’ve have a friend who has a similar problem but he’s not found the source yet

That was going to be my suggestion, or a perished/split carbon can rubber hose, but I've never smelled the very distinctive whiff of Eau De Gatwick coming from a car before though.  Burned aviation fuel is a very unique smell.  Definitely not a burned petrol smell!  Rich running blasting through a cat can give off a particular odour (not the eggy stink) but its nothing like a Rolls Royce Trent!
