TTRS top mounts?
« on: June 19, 2021, 04:45:24 am »
I notice people fit these to mk5s, whats the difference in them, do they add camber or anything like that or just a heavy duty version of the stock top mounts?

They are an upgrade over the stock top mounts giving more connected feeling to the suspension. Less stiff than poly bushes which can crack over time and increase NVH a lot more. These seem to be the best compromise for a daily driver.

Just heavier duty I believe. Personally I’d just buy genuine from Vw.

I replied to your comment about them in the 'coilovers suggestions' thread and only just noticed this.

Basically......no such thing as TT 'RS', all petrol 2.0 and 2.5 8J TTs use the same mounts. The rubber bit is a fair chunk stiffer than GTI, which helps with initial damping delay on stiffer aftermarket dampers, but the bearing is the same bog standard Golf/A3/MK6 Polo/Passat/TT part.  FWIW, TTs use a very different suspension setup to the MK5, so using it's top mounts alone might not solve a lot of the MK5's weaknesses with aftermarket suspension.

As also mentioned in the above thread, the 034 Motorsport top mounts overcome a design flaw present in all PQ35 top mounts, and are probably a better bet.  I just don't know of their providence i.e. farmed out to China for production (likely), so can't give a firm go/no go recommendation.

The Febi ones will be sh1t.  If you need to steer away from dealer parts/prices, stick to Lemforder.
