Had a breakdown last week. Drove away from home and got about 200 yards down the road and conked out. Cranked over and sounded like no compression! I got the top cover off the cam belt on side of road but couldn't look at belt and crank over at the same time as you have to press clutch to start. Phoned a mate to come tow me back, he looked at belt and said it was fine, he's a tech himself and said I wonder if your EGR has stuck. Put his scan tool on , no codes but EGR was showing 100% on live data, gave some hammer action to the EGR and eventually it coughed into life enough for me to drive it back home.
Ordered a new EGR from Darkside developments but as it was bank holiday didn't come till Thursday. Fitted it yesterday with my mates help, there's a really awkward torx bolt that goes through the ASV and EGR into the manifold, we dropped the torx bit a couple of times and had to fish it out of the busy engine bay :(
Got it all fitted and gingerly drove round the block to test, all good so drove a little further, all good done about 50 miles driving around last night.

Took car over to Newark today to get swirl flaps mapped out, keep getting faults and EML on with them, and the proper fix is a new inlet manifold at about £700 - nope! Sadly after about 20 mins of car being in workshop he came in and said can't communicate with car with his AutoTuner flash tool , normal scan tool will communicate and check codes (I've never had issues with scan tools and I have a few) as he had other customers and appointments this afternoon he couldn't continue. Advised checking the OBD port for backed out pins which I've done now back home. Can't see any issues with the port. So a bit stuck.

Took car to a local guy Glenside motor company (15 mins away) to get the swirl flaps and stage 1 map done, did it via OBD with CMD Flash, didn't need to remove the ECU to bench it which is a bonus. Before mapping he put the factory original file on the car, checked for any errors then mapped the car with the 3 swirl flap codes deleted and motor disconnected.
I think he said he has 3 different flash tools and some are used rather than others in certain situations , especially when previous remaps are involved.
In my case a virtual read had been previously been carried out, which in the guys analogy said it's like reading a book, but only selected paragraphs :P
