Lowering and drop links.

Popped some h&r springs on my mk5 a while ago. Over time I've noticed a knock. I want to eliminate the drop links. Just replaced a set on a car on work that had a knock and the joints had no play. Anyway. I can get febi replacements or should I opt for adjustable ones. I don't remember there being any noises after fitting the springs ages ago.

I get a knock as well after fitting h&r springs it’s always on slow driving manoeuvres , had the car checked over and everything is tight and how it should be , I made sure to have the steering rack checked as well as I know they can knock but that was fine as well, it does annoy me though. Apparently it’s pretty common from when I was Googling it a while back.

Yeah does seem common. Can't say I noticed straight away etc, was about 12 months ago now. Will update all being well tomo after I get them fitted :)

I would get the Lemforder drop links as they're OEM.

Providing the ARB is parallel to the floor, or very close to it, with the car on the ground using OEM drop links, you don't need adjustable ones.

Adjustable ones are only required when you can't achieve zero ARB preload with the car on the floor.  That generally only happens when the upper drop link tab is in a different position to OEM on the strut, and/or the car is VERY low, in which case longer links are required.

I've bought the febi ones, never had issues with the company tbf.

Shouldn't need them if you're running H&R springs with OEM struts. 

I've been using OEM drop links on 3 different suspension kits over 6 years and they don't knock.  Are you sure the knocking is drop links?

Not 100% mate but then I've no idea when they have been replaced. Be worth doing.

We had a kia sportage in last week, knocking but nothing loose. Replaced the links and bingo, no more knocking.

OK no worries, sling em' on and see if it helps.  If they're the original 14 odd year old ones, they might well be goosed!
