Airtec intercooler
« on: January 19, 2022, 07:45:12 am »
Morning all,

I've just got round to fitting my airtec intercooler to my Edition 30....

Car doesn't feel overly great, it's got a bit of a boost leak as it's very hesitant and spikey low down.

Noticed there was oil coming from the driverside intercooler pipe where the alloy coupler connects engine side.

I assumed, maybe wrongly that with the new airtec hoses and jubile clips that I'd do away with the flimsey rubbish o-rings and mental clips.

I'm just wondered if, the airtec stage 2 cooler needs no.8 on the diagram? That connection is where the leak is.

Wondered if someone who's fitted an airtec could advise?

Thanks in advance.

When I fitted mine it was a hard job to get the coupler little alloy joint to clip into the intercooler pipe on the car with the O ring placed on, had to tap it in with a rubber mallet until it clipped in.

Thanks for this, I think I'll pull that hose off again and try again. I guess I'll replace the o-ring and see how that goes as my alloy couple just slots on and off very easily although the silicone hose makes it a tight fit.

Do you mean the metal circlip which comes off with a flat head that you hammered on? Or the actual alloy coupler with the rubber o-ring?

Thanks again.

Yeah I hammered the coupler with the O-ring on into the pipe with the circlip first and make sure it clipped it securely. Then fitted the silicone hose after
