MK Golf Rear Hatch Door Latch Probem.

I have a problem with the rear hatch door not unlocking everything else in the tailgate works fine. i will list what tests I have done so far.
1 Replaced the latch for a new one.
2 The three white cables on the plug to the latch all have power except one next to the brown wire which I think is earth does not matter what I do the
   odd white wire has no power to it.
3 Checked the loom in the area where they all break, left hand side where the loom enters the car from the tail gate nothing broken but some of the wire
   casings were cracked I have taped them for the moment.
4 By passed the switch inside the open and close lever nothing.

Not sure what else to check.
