After a bit more than a year enjoying my little nugget
it was time get all the juices & filters changed…
Brought some parts from Belgium with me last August and bought some here in Croatia 🇭🇷 …

Also changed the expansion tank and did a coolant flush

Engine oil 5w-40 & filter changed… and got myself a good Karlovačko along

Next up was a bit exiting… was there still enough gearbox oil in the gearbox?!
Surprise surprise, there wasn’t 😅
Flushed the old oil out (was about 1,5L) and filled it up with fresh75w-90 gearbox oil

Then some new sparkplugs… or NOT😫!?!
I couldn’t get the ignitioncoils unplugged 😤
Got myself an other Karlovačko and thought about it for a while how to get
those bloody things out!
Didn’t want to force anything and it’s a thing for tomorrow…
So changed the air & cabinfilter and cleaned them all out😎

Found my envelope with stickers which I bought last year 😅 and put them on

All what’s left to do are sparkplugs, powersteering oil and fuel filter…. Clean the sumpguard and big sump & gearbox guard, bolt them back up.
That’s a battle for tomorrow 😁
Here’s what I’ve accomplished for now…

Next April I’ll bring all the big boxes with parts with me so I can do all the brakes and pads, timingbelt, waterpump etc, etc…
Some nice 17” sport classic and Bilstein b14😎

But first in November the Edition 30 gets some nice suspension & brake upgrades😍

The follow up continues…
The sparkplug leads got scared when they saw my primal plyers 😎
They surrendered immediately 😎
The little orange leads puller is a joke🙄

Got the old plugs out and torqued new ones in…

Changed the fuelfilter…

Topped up the powersteering oil and filled up the AC by my local garage. Did a little trip to see if everything was ok….

And now my least favorite part… cleaning all my mess up😅

It’s been a while😅 but after a couple of months in Belgium,
looking forward for spring and Summer to go back to the Island…
BUT…I’ve been looking for a VR6 for some while or an GTI to convert it to a VR6 and do an engine swap… actually to do a father and son project together❤️….
So I found a VR6 … a very high milage one, bodywork all fine but engine, drivegear and suspension need a LOT of work… and in another corner of the sellers parking… I saw an other mk3 Golf🤨…. Asked If I could take a look and as I was getting closer to it, I was dumbfounded!!!😳🤩 a “20Years” GTI😍 all original LC9Z black 5 doors
1 owner full spec!! And best of all… original 56.400 km😱😳🤩🥳😎
So my attention went completely to it🫶🏻😍👊🏻 Asked the seller how this wasn’t sold yet!! He just got it the day before. I got the full service history to take a look and I was again stupified 😳 this thing hassen’t been moved in 10 years!!! The owner passed away and the GTI stood still in a warehouse, gathering dust… The seller told me that some else was comming to take a look on it 2 days later…
In my mind I was loosing it!🫣 a hidden gem… or a tired VR6! The GTI was “only” the 2L 8 valve AGG engine.
Owkay…. Took a very close and good look on the GTI and totaly rust free body with some dents in the front right and rear left door as a couple on the back and in the grille…. Nothing a dent repair guy can’t fix without doing a paint job. Engine wise… the whole enchilada has to be done! Engine, gearbox, powersteering oil, all the filters (engine, air, cabin, petrol/fuel) Timingbelt, servo and alternatorbelt, sparkplugs, leeds and complete brake service, discs and pads and 4 new tyers…😅🫣 oh and a  new battery…
Great to teach the “next” generation how to service a car👊🏻😉 so learning school for tha kiddo 😎 (now only 20 years old!)😄
I then asked how the GTI was brought there… by truck and they only put a battery on it to drive it on / off the truck gave it a wash and parked it in the corner!
I checked the coolant (still the green one!!) and oil level… all toped up but 10 years old!!! Key in ignition and “booooom” 1st crank it was alive!!😳🤩 love the 827 engine! The clutch still butter soft and it went in all gears like it was brand new!!!
Interiorwise same as my Silver one…. The tipical VW smell 😍 and better specked as wel… Recaro interior, climatronic and sunroof🤩 all electric windows and everything works!!😍 even the sliders of the sunroof have grease on them!!
So 1st gear and away I was…😎 It felt all te same as with my 16v… 10 years of standing still doesn’t do any good to any car!! After about 30mim of  driving I was SOLD!👊🏻 This hidden gem has to saved!! And it will be loved and cared about❤️
Enough blabbering…. Pictures tell more….

So wen I came back I offered the seller a fair price and we shaked hands👊🏻😎👍🏻
No VR6… but a “20 Years” is coming back next week to Belgium…. Boy here I go again!!! But not alone this time… Son is going to have a bussy Spring and Summer😅
In the mean while I sourced an original Gamma 4 radio and engine undertray…
All the service parts / items will hopefully also be here in the next week… and it’s a LOT!!🫣😅

The black golf and I had a 650 km Road trip from Basel Switzerland back to Belgium last month… I didn’t come back through France but did a detour through Germany, a bit France and back throug Germany… It was a nice road Trip back😍

The little nugget loved the drive🥰 and me too😄… got some 👍🏻👍🏻 on my way back home. Parked it in the garage and left it there…
I had to go back to Croatia the next day…
Had some work done arround the house and in the garden and then it was time to wake up all the rides 😍
Edition 30 was first… no hickups just key in ignition and start🥰
Then it was 20 Years ‘s turn… Connect battery, check all fluids and start 😎👍🏻
