Highest I've seen for momentum. But I did pay 1.95 for VPower the other day, not even at a service station or near or a race track just in the middle of Cardiff. Had I realised before I would have travelled further to Tesco

It does make you wonder if the £2.00 a litre is coming and I'm old enough to remember when petrol hit £1.00.... per gallon.
I'm already cycling more and will continue to do so when it makes sense.

Seem to dimly recall the £1 gallon, but clearly recall the £1 litre - the novelty was price and litres count was in sync.

I tend to steer clear of Shell and BP - especially the latter - they tend to be a good bump higher than anyone else.

The worst has to be when you are running out on the motorway and stop at services, it there a more potent financial shock than the price per litre there?

I don't think it's been £1 a gallon since the 1970s.

I remember 100 Octane "5 star" leaded being available at the pumps circa 1990. Then they got rid of it and 95 unleaded was the only choice for a few years before 97 arrived.  The chaos that caused with engines detonating and valve seat recession.  Kind of the like the faff of E10 not being compatible with some engines now.

I think people forget petrol has been expensive for years now.  It's only gone up 3p a year (regular unleaded) over the last 10 years.

Yes - and what a stink was raised about it back then!

That's the fuel tax escalator, pretty much the same as cigarettes...but we still need fuel for stuff to deliver food and other necessities

Yep, I don't agree with massive rises in essentials like fuel, food and clothes but that's the world we live in.  With all the current hysteria about fuel prices, I just observed it's always been expensive and not as much of a rise over 10 years as it could have been!

The government like to push peoples limits but where are the protesters?  People were gluing themselves to the roads over loft insulation, but no one is heading to No.10 with their pitch forks about fuel prices.

And the fuel prices are nothing to do with war as the media are touting, but rather the oil companies throttling supplies on purpose to prop up prices.  They are utter, utter, [insert favourite insult here]s.

There was a garage owner being interviewed on the radio - normally they get their tanks replenished every 1.5 weeks - but now lots of folk are cutting back on using fuel, now it's every 2 weeks the tank runs dry - so taking longer to sell the same amount of fuel/return.

For $hits & giggles I converted our petrol price/litres into US gallons & dollars - currently it would be $9.50 - all hell broke loose when their gallon topped $4 dollars.

I was close this morning. £1.96 for V power.  £73 for 32 litres   The world has gone frickin nuts.

I had to abandon using E10 after hearing detonation on hot days.
