Rear camber and toe issue

(1/2) > >>

Slowdriver934:
I recently had my mk5 gti rear suspension arms replaced as the previous owner was from Scotland was rusted to sh*t was a big and expensive job to get done. I just went to go get it aligned and they couldnt get it lower that -2 on both sides when they torqued it it would just go to -4 then -2 again. Had it checked and no damage to subframe or any other parts or bushes. Anyone have any idea of how to get these straight?

breeze:
You might find that the bush for the main trailing arm (if that is what it is called) is worn out on both sides.

Similar happened to me recently. I had to replace the big arms as well. There was just too much flex in the rubber because it was old and soft.

mjmallia:
The rear trailing arms go over looked a lot, due to being covered up and located into the chassis.

My car used to twitch in the rear a lot, and after taking them off the car the bush was shot creating a lot of play. Put a poly bush in and that resolved my issue.

mjmallia:
Here was my old bush and the car passed an MOT prior to this being removed, but suspect it had been worn out for a while.

then poly bushed them

mjmallia:
It hides in here:
