Hello,
I have a 2008 MK5 Golf 1.4S. About a month ago the car was driving fine until one morning where it wouldn't start. The cluster also wasn't illuminated at all, and the dials weren't working. When I scanned the car, I got the codes:
17978 - Engine Start Blocked by Immobilizer
29095 - Invalid Data Recieved From: Instrument Panel Cluster Control Module
I had the cluster sent off to be tested and it had no faults. When I got it back and plugged it in again, the cluster was back somehow and the car started. But now, the ABS and Engine lights are illuminated and the brake light flashes. There is also an audible beep that happens a short while after putting the key in. The only code I get now is:
28793 - No Communication with ABS Brake Control Module
I also noticed that the speedometer isn't working, and when accelerating, the fuel needle drops down and the fuel light comes on.
The ABS module has also been tested and is fully working. There are no other electrical issues (currently).
My current theory for what could be wrong is either a faulty J533 CAN gateway module, or potentially a bad BCM, but I have no idea. Can anyone help point me in the right direction?
