Boost leak ?
JakeyGhost:
Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has had similar symptoms and managed to get their problem sorted?
I have a MK5 GTI, which has slowly developed a boost leak that has gotten worse over time. Very loud gushing when pulling away or ar low revs. Today it seemed like the turbo was spooling up although there was a big loss of power intermittently then back to normal once enough pressure is built up the leak seems to plug itself back up and the problem seems to go away.
I have searched and not found anything related to my issue. Any help would be appreciated. I have changed my intercooler pipes, brake boost pipe and booked in to have the intercooler changed on Wednesday. I will keep you updated.

Hello, check the pipes going into the vacuum pump, make sure there not cracked or split and check you PCV valve, also a bad diverter valve can be the cause of a boost leak if the rubber in the valve has split, do you have a engine light on? i had a split pipe going into the vacuum pump and got a p0171.
SANDEGTI:
First point of call is to check the diverter valve and if you haven't replaced it before do it anyway. Then I'd check the PCV, then all the connecting boost pipes and look for any splits, cracks or if something is loose in general.
Had all three fail on mine, I only did the PCV myself though. I had a rocker cover leak too.

I have changed the pipe on the vacuum pump, currently running a forge DV which I am going to swap for a OEM+. I do not have any oil leaks or spillage to suggest the rocker cover is blowing. I have a smoke test booked next week, I will post updates here

Rev G has been the best for me. I'd replace half of this stuff anyway as precaution.
