So turns out the cam oil solenoid isn't the problem so hoping its not the chain

My 2007 GTI golf came on with " oil pressure engine off " light on. I checked oil. Topped it up. Now is over full with oil and making top end ticking clacking noise. Is this due to too much oil or ?
