Passenger Door Won’t Open

(1/2) > >>

Dazzeroo:
I’m having huge issues trying to get my front passenger door open. It’s a five door and haven’t had the car long so no idea if the locking/actutor modules have been previously replaced!

I’ve tried the following but still no luck:

1. Disconnected the battery
2. Banging the door whilst simultaneously using key/door locks to unlock
3. Disconnected the cable from the door lock using a pick tool
4. Manually unlock using a coat hanger as per this i=MMWpq_NpYS0sJkO5

Short of cutting into the door skin I’m at a loss as to what to do. I’ve bought a replacement actuator but don’t want a huge bill given VW quoted an hour and a half to replace the actuator buts on the basis they can open the door. MOT is due soon too! Help 😢

terrier:

Door skin completely removed NOT destroyed

If I could get the door open I’d follow this! Thank you for the link mate!

mjmallia:
Have you tried to open the door from the inside, as that is a different connection in the module.

I had this issue on my wife's Golf before Christmas.....managed to open the door by climbing over to the passengers side and double pulling the handle as the outside one would not respond.  Changed the mech over and been fine since.

Dazzeroo:
I did try that, thanks Mike. It’s booked in next Monday at an Indy so fingers crossed. I’ve bought a replacement actuator for £30 off eBay.
