Interested in this thread as I (like many it seems) have this idle misfire type thing every now and again.  Goes away as soon as throttle is pressed, never have a problem when driving around.  Have the oil control rings to replace when I find the time, hoping it is that.  I have no codes or errors and it drives perfectly except for this.  I did test with the MAF unplugged and it seems to run alot better with no misfire.  MAF has been replaced, along with all the usual items, so I'm hoping it will be the control rings.

have you check the channel 14-15-16 for misfire live data?(status must say enable/active)  also 91-93 for vvt, 103 for lpfp and 140 for hpfp. i have 4-5bar on 103, 50bar on idle (140) 27-28kw and 0-3kw(warm engine) on 91-93 should be good as that what i have on idle with new chain+tensioner and rings from VAG, also you should check the PCV if its leaking, and if u maybe should see which Cyl is misfire ofcourse test swaping coil and plugs to different Cyl and if the problem still is present is to change place on the injectors...
