P0016 code
« on: July 22, 2025, 03:16:54 pm »
I recently rebuilt the top end of a 2012 golf r. It had a broken cam chain. New valves, valve guides, head studs, timing belt and pulleys, new chain and tensioner, new cam phaser, replaced the plastic oil rings in the cam chain cover housing. Once reassembled I had the p0016 code. Double checked my timing on belt and chain. All seems to be lined up correctly. On line 93 I was getting 13ºkw. Decided to try replacing the camshaft sensor. Now line 93 reads 11ºkw. After running for a short time I no longer get a readout on the phase position and the code p0016 appears. The plug has a broken clip on the camshaft sensor. Idk if this could affect the reading. Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

If the 91 is reading 27.5 - 28.5 you most likely misaligned the chain.
