P000A Issue - Help needed

(1/1)

oregato:
Hey all, long time lurker here!

Really hoping some of you can help me with an intermittent P000A fault. I've read through this forum and the numerous threads about this error code but I did notice something strange with my issue that's not mentioned in the threads.

My car is a 2005 Mk5 GTI with the AXX engine.

I've already replaced:
1. Timing chain, tensioners and the 3 plastic o rings in the housing.
2. Camshaft phaser/adjuster.
3. N205 control valve.
4. Oil changed - using 5W 30 that meets the relevant VW standards.
5. Camshaft position sensor (G40).

I have OBDeleven and when I look at bank 91, the "specified" and "actual" camshaft adjustment angles are tracking each other closely, however the "Camshaft adjustment %" is jumping around erratically. I compared it to a mates healthy GTI - his value is stable.

Could anyone help to shed some light on what I should look at next? I'm at a total loss.

Car drives fine and it's just this intermittent fault that triggers the light on the dash periodically.

GVK:
What about the cam sensor? , have seen posts on here historically about cam sensors with swarf on them.

oregato:
Thanks for the reply - I forgot I had replaced the cam shaft position sensor with a bosch one as well. Updated my original post with that info.

Right now, I'm not sure if this is a mechanical/oil issue or an electrical issue if anyone can give me some pointers on what to test next?

oregato:
Gentle bump - anyone any ideas? I'm not sure what other things I could check or try to diagnose.
