Torque Specs – Front & Rear Discs/Pads – Mk5 GTI (BWA)

(1/1)

Husy:
Hey all, replacing front & rear discs/pads on my 2008 Mk5 GTI (BWA) with Delphi (GSF). Does anyone have all the torque settings to complete the job?

ZoliWorks:
The 2 guide pins the brake caliper sits on - 30nm
The 2 large bolts holding the brake carrier onto the wheel bearing housing - 190nm
Small screw holding the brake disk in place - 6nm
Brake bleeder bolt - 10nm

I recommend replacing the guide pins and the rubber housings they sit in. You can get parts from the QuickBrake brand which are cheap and decent. They are just some rubber sleeves, 2 pins with "locktite" applied onto them already and some vaseline.

If you are installing brand new pads and disks, you will need to undo the bolts for the brake carrier, otherwise the new disk does not fit. First install the disk, then the carrier, then the caliper with the pads in it already

The front brake pistons can be pushed back in place, the rear brakes require twisting and pushing at the same time so get one of those cheap brake piston toolkits.

MKVASMR:
Front:
Brake carrier to wheel hub 190Nm (clean if reusing)
Guide Pin to brake carrier 30Nm

Rear:
Brake carrier to wheel hub rear (renew) 90Nm + 90deg
Brake caliper to brake carrier bolts (renew) 35Nm

Front and rear disc retaining screw 4Nm
