RCD 510 into basic Mk5?
Ess_Three:
Folks, I'm confused...
If I wanted to fit a new RCD510 into a 2007 Mk5 Sport which has a RCD300 currently fitted, no iPod connection, no CD Changer, no parking sensors, no reverse camera, no MFSW...just a billy basic RCD300 in a Mk5 Sport...can I?
Can I just unplug the RCD300, plug in the RCD510 and off I go?
I suspect the aerial connection may beed some tinkering...
But what of theis Can-bus gateway thingy...?
Assuming I then wanted to add an iPod connection, I'd just buy one for the RCD510 and Robert would become my mothers brother?
Thanks in advance,
Glen.

When was the car registered, more importantly when was it built?

Hmm...it's registered March 2007.
I don't know any more as she's only just bought it and we haven't collected it yet.

I just did this to my 06 gti and you need to check the version of can gateway you have, if you don't have an "L" version or later you will need to update the can gateway. The ordered a L from the dealer and got a "AD" one. I took me a while to get it all sorted out but i now have a working RCD510..
