Been out in a Golf R

What a great car but i still can't get over the price.  :sad1:

Given the fact that the S3 has been out a while and you could pick up a £1k or more discount,  am i right in saying the S3 would be cheaper than a Golf R; assuming broadly similar spec?  Is it me or is that just wrong?

a standard new s3 is cheaper than a standard R  :surprised:

I would still buy the r at the minute if I was going to get one... I love s3's but they don't excite me anymore, whereas I saw a r coming off the motorway the other day and instantly wanted one, just like when I saw one in Smith Night Fay the other month... Just new and different

neg:
you wanted the R - was this because you knew what it was though and its new...

I would have one dont get me wrong - more than I wanted the R32 over the GTI in fact but just not sure its 'worth' then extra £10k.. I think the only issue is when you see one and you would think I should have got that instead - never had that with the R32.

Rich:
I think the Golf R being pricey is a good thing... makes owning one a special feeling knowing your part of a rare breed..

It is priced at £37k+ for a reason... otherwise everyone would be buying one....
