A Classic Nurburg Ring 1930s Vid....
« on: May 05, 2010, 04:23:32 pm »

....Wonderful! Very classic. The commentary was very amusing too in sounding so dated and spoken in 'upper class' BBC English. And of course anything Graham Hill had to say was always funny.

Seeing this vid I was reminded that in the 1930s the father of a close friend of mine (she's Bavarian, not German wink.gif ) was working as a mechanic and occasional driver at the Nurburg Ring (as the English commentator called it). Along came Mr Hitler and he was 'invited' to be one of his drivers. I think he was one of the drivers who entered Paris but he spent the wartime comfortably. Unfortunately the family destroyed the photographs probably because they feared what might happen after WW2 ended. "Mr who? Mr Hitler? Nah, never heard of him. Nothing to do with me. What's he gone and done then?"
