Track inspired MK5 build.

Foz:
well my last few cars have been a bit, showy...

i decided i want a car that doesnt scrape the road and that
handles well, and looks half decent

bought as a standard car in Nov '09

55reg
42k miles
winter pack
leather

As i bought her, with the heavily kerbed rims...

first modification was to help the engine breathe...

then i thought it needed something  to release the gasses...

new exhaust needs a new bumper...

by this point the state of the wheels was really annoying me. so i thought about how i wanted the car to look , and knowing i was going to be getting on track this year i decided on a track theme, my upgrade helping to emphasise the handling & power of the car.

new wheels...

at this pnint i realised how high the car sat, time for some lows in the form ok KW...

the car was coming together, i decided a cage and stripped rear would look good. i had a company make a cage, but the design wasnt the best and i couldnt sit in the drivers seat properly...

so it was back to the drawing board. i measured a mates mk4 raceland cage and realised it would fit...

so i bought one and trial fitted it...

with the help of a mata and a heater, we heated the welds and bent the cage so the diagonal bars sat 3" higher up, making them more visible from the side windows, and sprayed it red...

so this is where it stands...

all comments welcomed.
there are some further plans in the pipeline but this is my vision nearly complete.

thanks for looking, foz

very nice build, have you considered the WALK kit and maybe TT mk 2 lower control arms to aid the handling. RSB also  :happy2:
