I know this mod is about LED but would it be possible to do it with standards

....I don't think so as it relies on multi-coloured LED bulbs and also there's no provision for fitting the bulbs in the standard light units.

Those Valeo tails look good on Laser Blue  - cmdrfire has that combo.

....As far as I know.

But I don't know everything.

The Valeo's are designed for this LED mod we're doing. I don't know why VW gave up on these tails either for the GTI Mk5 or without using the functional LED mouldings.

....Yes, both the Golf Plus and Passat have the same style LED lights but the casings are different shapes.

I'd love to know why they didn't make it onto the Mk5 Golf's production line.

I haven't mentioned it to any of the guys who attend the Berks/Hampshire meets yet but I'm going to ask one of them to vid my new tails - They should be ready in time for the September meet as long as my friend doesn't get crazy busy with normal work.

I'll post a link here to my new thread when it's ready.

RR,
im guessing that is your leds in the 3 comparison pics? is it just the pic or are your outer lights tinted on the clear rings, if so is that a mod as ive never seen the leds with tints before and that is what is holding me off buying the led units, i'd want tinted clear bits
Cheers

....Hi James,

I think it's just the LED bulbs giving a darker effect. We'll see how they compare when my inner (boot lid) units have the new LED bulbs fitted... Soon  :happy2:

James,
As standard the LED Valeo lights look tinted to an extent.

....I specifically had a look at them today and think it's because the outer units have their LED bulb mounts deeply recessed.
