Where to run rca / power cable leads? Where to connect power?

Hey folks,

After being quoted £100 to fit a head unit and just a small active sub/amp I can't help but be tempted to do it myself.

I know there is a stereo removal guide, as i'll be fitting an Alpine stereo I will use that.

However, I have yet to see a guide to explain where to channel the RCA wires through the car? (Or how to even do it) And also, the installer today started telling me 'Golf's are easy, you don't need to wire to the battery theres a power area where the radio is' ???
