6x9s on standard parcel shelf??

Hi all,

I'm in the last stages of upgrading the sounds in the 55 plate GTI. I know the obvious answer to this question but just wanted to know if anyone had tried attaching 6x9 speakes to the standard parcel shelf as opposed to a stealth shelf or something like that.

Would it take the weight? sound ok? or is this a definate no no??

i cannot echo this any louder!

dragging the sound to the rear of the car is not the best way to spend your money.

Front components, amp'd preferably.
