Removing and installing switch module for driver side window lift

Special tools and workshop equipment required
       
-   Removal wedge -VAS 3409-



NoteWhen removing and installing components that are in view (switches, covers, trim and so on), mask off areas in which tools (wedge -VAS 3409-, screwdriver) are used to prise out those components using commercially available adhesive tape.
The following components are integrated into the driver side window lifter switch module on 4-door vehicles:

- Front left window regulator switch -E40-
- Rear left window regulator switch in driver door -E53-
- Rear right window regulator switch in driver door -E55-
- Front right window regulator switch in driver door -E81-
- Childproof lock button -E318-
- Button illumination bulb -L76-

Note The above mentioned components cannot be replaced individually.

The following components are integrated into the driver side window lifter switch module on 2-door vehicles:
- Front left window regulator switch -E40-
- Front right window regulator switch in driver door -E81-
- Button illumination bulb -L76-
 
Note The above mentioned components cannot be replaced individually.

Removing

–   Switch off ignition and all electrical consumers.
     
–   Use the removal wedge -VAS 3409- or a screwdriver to carefully prise the mounting frame out of the door trim -arrow-.
 



–   Separate connectors -arrows-.
 


–   Release locking lugs -arrows- and remove switch from installation frame.
 


Installing

Install in reverse order of removal.

VC:
Removing and installing fuel tank flap release button -E319-

NoteThe fuel tank flap release button -E319- features integral button illumination -L76-, which must not be replaced individually.

Removing

–   Switch off ignition and all electrical consumers.
–   Remove door trim → Rep. Gr.70.
       
–   Disconnect connector -arrow-.



–   Release locking lugs -arrows- and remove switch from door trim.
 


Installing

Install in reverse order of removal.

Afraid so by the looks of things, and yes...theres a guide for that too lol  :grin:

tbh i think maybe leave the switch standard, your eye doesnt need to be drawn to it and you'll never really see it anyway

although it could bug you
