Nice touches Shaun!  :happy2:

I presume you had to change that whole transmission tunnel cover to get the slidey slidey tray?

No you only need to change the actual cup holder  :happy2:, its screwed in underneath and you slide it out when screws  are undone, it does mean either removing the whole tunnel or at least moving it into a position where you can get access to the screws and remove the old holder

Nicely done. A bit silly you can't spec those things in the first place. Looks easy enough to do.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

LOL, if only

To be fair most of it was ok, the hardest bit was the center console would not come out due to the shift stick still being in (i read on Elsa that you should not remove the DSG shift, it didnt say why though but i didnt want to risk it), so i had to remove the old cup holder whilst still and whilst still facing downwards, then i lost a screw which i hate doing so i pulled  the carpets out to get it , after that the only other issue was the side bottom pieces which i was sure was not going in correctly, but it appears thats how they fit !

LOL, tbh if the handbrake would disconnect easily at the base it would have been fine, it doesn't though

Thats a great mod, but one that shouldn't need doing in the first place! VW costcutting gone mad. Can I ask how you got hold of your car so quickly? as my Dad has got a 'rocco R on order, and has been since mid December '09!!! he still has no build date either. VW are loaning him a car until it arrives as he sold his part ex privately, due to them constantly reducing the px value as time went on!

i was lucky mine arrived 3 months after ordering.

many others are in same boat as your dad's. major DSG box supply issue at the mo.

and yes shame on VW cutting out the simple niceties that were in the Mk5 GTI but NOT on the top of range Rocco R. I was not amused!!!

Does the shiny black plastic attract dust and scratches very easily?

its not actually plastic, its metal with what im told is a strip of wood thats had the piano black treatment, hence the bloody silly price  :jumping: , anyway to your question if its anything like the rest of the piano black bits then it does attract a bit of dust but its not bad and a microfibre wipe over sorts it in seconds  :happy2:
