How To Remove Keyfob Badge?
« on: August 24, 2010, 06:08:15 pm »
Hi all,

I bought new VW badges for my keyfobs as the old 1's were worn away.

I'm trying to remove the old badfge off the keyfob using a very tiny flat head screwdriver but i cant seem to get the badge off......i have thought about just sticking the new badge ontop of the old 1 but i want it flush.

Any ideas how to take the old badge off?

Yeah, much easier if you hold the key under a hairdrier for a while.

Yours must have been glued down with superglue or something.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

I changed mine this week and both were pretty well glued in place. I just pierced a very small hole in the centre with the tip of small knife and they both popped out  :happy2:

Sounds like you got it sorted, but thought it was worth noting for others that the best place to start prying it up is at the 9 o'clock (270ยบ clockwise) position. There's a screw under that part, so there's a bit of room for your tool of choice to get under there to pry it up. Heat always helps.
