Quick question on fitting dead clutch pedal footrest.

Help - I'm trying to fit Gulf's footrest in the dark and whilst I have the fastener in the centre out, what sort of fitting is the one on the LHS of the footrest?

I can't seem to remove the fastener - any tips are much appreciated.
