HOw do I fit my matt black grille wrap?

(1/2) > >>

big al:
Hi guys,
Just this morning received my matt black wrap to go on the grille of my GTI,
Problem is, I don't really know how to fit it, should I put some on the flat bits and then with a hairdryer heat up the bits by the folds in order to apply them properly?
Any advice would be welcomed,
Ta
Al

There is an art to it. I've never done a mk 5 grill but have wrapped sililar size items with curves.

Tools needed:-
-Heatgun (hairdryer will do)
-squeqee. you could use a credit card with dome kitchen towel taped to it.
-scalpel (or similar.
-Soapy water (in a squirty bottle if possible)

1. Clean the grill completly then spray with soapy water.

2. Spray adehesive side of viynl with soapy water then lay over the grill evenly

3. With the heatgun dust heat into the vinyl whilst working the squegee into the vinyl work from the centre out.

4. If you get any bubbles or creases dont be aftaid to peel the vinyl back and try again.

Let us know how you get on.

I'm glad you asked this as my vinyl arrived last week!

I have had a go on the grille, did it slightly different to how advised above, do have a couple of bubbles in there, but only notice if you look close up, will probably try again if I get bored over winter.
Will also sort some pics in a short while to show my attempts.

Pics will be good. Hope it's a "if I can do it anyone can" type of thing. I was looking to wrap the aluminium strips inside first and see how that goes.
