Just bought Black 5dr Edition 30 with 26k. Any tips???

Hi guys,  just a few questions, have just bought a 57 plate gti Ed 30 which is so far amazing and was hoping anyone could recommend or not whether to get a remap, I am (sadly) a stickler for fuel economy and am even getting cruise control fitted by local vdub dealer next week because i value my license and always find myself doing 90 on the motorways when 75 will do. That said I am a fan of the odd b-raod blast!!

Also mine has the detroit black monza alloys (18") which I think were an option which in all honesty I dont like so if anyone woudl like to swap them for their pescaras I would be more than happy to do so. I will upload photos when it brightens up.

Try asking the VW dealer if they offer remaps, I got mine remapped at VW Towcester through there tuning specialist (Richter) I think. They offer warranty on it as well so could not go wrong.

I also value fuel economy when just communting and regularly get mid to high 30's on a long run A43, M40, M25 from Leicester to Staines. When you cruise, the economy is just like stock, when you push it then it will drop into the mid 20's - or a lot less if it is just a country blast. I have also seen 40mpg on a long run in constant traffic doing 50mph (heavy commuting and roadworks) (I commute mainly on motorways)

Get the repair schedule for the car and run your eyes over the work that has been done
Check that all recalls have been done
See if you have had the fuel pump replaced as there was (IIRC) an issue with fuel pump seals leaking fuel through to the rail, most prominently on idle when the in tank pump pushes the fuel past the seals

Car looks very nice. I actually like the Detroits. Have a look on the wanted section, you might find someone who will swap with you. I'd swap for my 19" alloys but they are not OEM so don't think they would be to your liking.

Any other mods planned apart from re-map?
