varies but most cars seem to be a bit noisey at idle, that isnt just down to the injectors 'clicking'
Have you checked your oil level? What type of oil does it have in it?
I understand it is normal to even get a little vibration through the clutch pedal at low revs?
not sure what you mean?
vibration at idle just pressing the clutch pedal down,
or vibration when trying to slip the clutch to engage gear?
if its the first then generally no it shouldnt vibrate (but you can often feel where the clutch release bearing starts to come into play)
second then yes , vibration on clutch takeup (more of a groan sound) when in gear can be a 'charateristic' of the DualMassFlywheel and very flexible engine mounts. This can be helped by engine mount replacement or inserts. Some have had success getting VW to change the clutch/flywheel under warranty
Also, it is fitted with aftermarket HIDs (standard lenses), I'm guessing these could possibly not be the best option - am I likely to be blinding other drivers - should I get them off asap?
strictly they are breaking the law (no levellers etc) but youll generally be fine. They should strictly fail an MOT but most dont. Getting the OEM xenons is considered a better setup (even if you dont fit levellers). Choice is entirely yours :happy2:

It has ELF 5w40 synthetic, don't think it strictly meets VW 504, although I understand it is an excellent oil. Going to change for
Castrol EDGE this weekend.

yes, when trying to slip the clutch - although i wouldn't call it a groan!

I think I'll look into my options, I'm not comfortable with them tbh - they're bloody bright.
