On the hunt for a Double Din Headunit

Guys,

After todays antics with a flat battery and having to pay through the nose to get it sorted I am reconsidering my options

1 - Revert back to the RCD300 and burn a multitude of CD's
2 - Keep the RCD500 and buy a new Gateway and pay the £150 to get it coded
3 - Buy a After Market headunit

I am VERY tempted to run with three at the moment but would want a stereo which looks as OEM as possible. Currently looking at something along the lines of

Its a shame as I really like the OEM look but the cost of the Gateway and getting it coded is outside of what i want to pay.

Apart from the two mentioned what others are out there, also is there some sort of cage adapter and facia?

I'm in a similar boat only haven't got a RCD 500 only a 300 but want something better.
I've seen a nice new Sony XAV-70BT which is kinda cool. check it out

Oh yeah another thing, anyone know if an RNS510 version B would be alright (i.e. battery drain) with my MY07 gti? I kinda know about reverting to an older firmware but can this be done on the unit and do the older firmware's have SDHC functionality?
Thanks anyone for anything

.
I've had a Pioneer DD SatNav/Audio HU but now have the Alpine and prefer the Alpine.

Degudodger:
RR,

Do you have any photos of the HU in you car?
