Blade,s Polo GTi 180 DSG
markt:
Lovley car this
Hurdy:
Missis is trying to turn my head to one of these as her mate has one. :surprised:
I've seen the stock performance figures, but are there any "seriously" modified cars about (apart from yours!) and what kind of figures can you get from them?
Does it handle well? Is there much aftermarket stuff out there for them?
I'm still wanting an R or an ED35, but my "better" half usually gets her way, so if it would be possible to get one of these to be relatively fast then I may not struggle against her too much. and who knows, I may get an R as well for winter duties
All I know so far is that with just a map they make around 200-210bhp on a Dyno Dynamics roller, have DSG as standard and weigh around 1200kg.
Hurdy:
Oh, and I do like the look of them over the MKVI Golf, plus 40+mpg would be nice for a change

I,m really enjoying mine John. With stage 1 and Milltek TBE it goes really well. VWR will be marketing an Intercooler, Engine mounts, Big brakes, Intake, ARB and suspension once there developed. Ideally i would want an uprated clutch pack before i decide to go stage 2 and/or hybrid turbo as the 7 speed dry clutches have a low torque limiter. INA in Canada are on the case and also will be offering a new hybrid turbo option. A few Golf GT,s in Europe are already running 290ish on there own hybrid turbo option so it is possible.
Hurdy:
That is good to hear :happy2:
If I end up going down this route I'd also like to still do some more weight reduction, so....
Lightweight ARBs
OZ Alleggerita's (under 7kg a corner for 8x17's) (blue alloys on a shadow blue car would look good :happy2: )
Lightweight BBK (front and rear)
Lightweight bucket seats up front
These alone should knock the kerb weight down by around 40-50kg.
Haven't seen any carbon bonnets yet
I'd be happy with 230bhp and 1150kg = 200bhp/ton
The fact that the car is lighter appeals to me too as it should be more "chuckable" with a few suspension mods and less harsh on all the consumable ancilliary parts. :happy2:
290bhp and 1100kg would be awesome, but maybe would get the car back into the "I wish I had more grip" scenario.
