when was you car built blade.
REVO and anothe rtuner have both told me that my Fabia will not be able to be remapped via the OBD port or by removing the ECU and piggybacking it.
Here some info ive got from one of the tuners, which match what REVO said

Hi Sy,
2011 180hp 1.4TSI cannot be flashed at all for now. It has Bosch's newest tuning protection active, which prevents flash readout even using the bootup method.
Tool manufacturers are just about to finish and release 1.2TSI and 1.6TDI VAG protocols (a couple of weeks), and after that they will start working on the new protection. I hope it wont be too many months before its finished.

edit: Just to be clear, key word being 2011 there, new tuning protection for VAG was released early December 2010, so all cars manufactured after that have it as standard, and cannot be tuned yet.

So looks like VAG have changed their encryption now to stop the tuners bypassing it. It took them a few moonths to get around the first encrypted ECUs when they were introduced in early 2010 cars so hopefully this wont take to long to get aroundeither

I think Ryan's was a Sep 2010 build (dont quote me on it though)...
It made 187bhp today

.
Why are VAG so keen to stop aftermarket tuning? If it's known that an engine is tuneable doesn't it potentially sell more cars?
Janner_Sy:
not when they should buy the flag ship model instead. Buy a GTI for 20k add £500 remap and have R32/ed30 performance. Would cost you alot more to buy the R32. Same with the diesel guys, why pay extra for a CR170, when a CR140 will hit nearly 190hp with a £350 remap.
Had i known this i wouldnt have ordered the car. ive got it because it was light, tunable and a good little base to do track days and modifying from. I dont doubt they will break the encryption in time though. But until then chassis and brakes it is. At least it removes the choice from me lol

....Of course. I should have realised this.
